What is a confession? A confession is an admission, acknowledgment, or disclosure that, on its own or when combined with other facts, constitutes the basis of a prohibited offense. Confessions may or may not be in writing, may or may not be given to law enforcement. and may or may not happen during arrest.

Your statement may be anything you say or write in response to being accused of wrong doing. Your statement may be a confession, denial, or irrelevant. Whether your statement is a confession or denial is often debated in court.
