Theft of service (taxi) case dismissed in Red Hook Brooklyn

Lance’s client was arrested in Brooklyn for failing to pay a cab driver at the end of the trip and for not having a good reason for not paying. Because the incident happened in Red Hook, our client was directed to go to the Red Hook Community Justice Center for arraignment. After consulting with us, we devised a plan to get our client’s case resolved with no jail, no probation, and no criminal record by pursing a deal to have it dismissed. Getting a dismissal through negotiation is the best and, generally, only way to get a dismissal without a trial. After discussing our client’s case with the Brooklyn prosecutor, we reached a deal to have it dismissed with a small payment of restitution. Additionally, we negotiated with the judge to have it dismissed and sealed off of our client’s record in only two weeks.
