Theft charges dismissed for theft of passenger’s property at airport

Our client was arrested for stealing a cellphone from another passenger. This other passenger was very angry and wanted charges pressed to the fullest extent possible. Our client contacted us for help. Our client was going through difficult times personally and the arrest presented a big new problem that our client was really struggling with. Any conviction could lead to a permanent criminal record which could derail our client’s future plans. In discussing the case with the Queens District Attorney, we emphasized unique issues and problems our client was dealing with and that warranted leniency. In the end, we were able to negotiate a deal to have the criminal charges dropped. Our client only had to do some counseling and stay arrest-free for a short period of time, and there would be no criminal record.
