Our client was contacted by the police who had questions about things that happened between our client and another person. Specifically, they were pushing our client to discuss a sexual encounter which our client admitted to. Worried about why the NYPD was contacting him, our client came to see us and we immediately got involved. In discussions with the lead detective, we understood that they were, as suspected, conducting an investigation into a reported rape. We discussed the lack of physical evidence and the credibility concerns that we had about the source of the information the NYPD was receiving. After a brief detention, our client was released, the charges were discontinued, and the investigation was closed.
