Queens stolen property case dismissed

2014

Undercover police officer allegedly approached our client and sold our client a stolen piece of gold after telling our client that it was stolen. Our client bought it and was arrested and given a desk appearance ticket for criminal possession of stolen property, PL 165.40. Our client came to see us for a case evaluation, worried because conviction could have resulted in a year of jail and immigration consequences. We argued improper police department procedure to the district attorney and negotiated a settlement where as long as our client agreed to not be arrested for six months, the case would be dismissed and sealed. No jail, no probation, and no criminal record.
