Grand larceny of $10,000 stolen jewelry felony charges dismissed, no jail

2020

Our client was arrested for stealing an expensive piece of jewelry from the complainant who filed a report with the NYPD. While the case was pending, our client was subsequently arrested for other related offenses. In analyzing the prosecutor’s evidence, we became aware of a problem with the timeline they intended to use if the case went to trial. Our client contacted us. Our client was very interested in resolving it without a trial and we were able to use the weaknesses in the prosecution’s case to urge a much more lenient outcome than the 7 years in prison our client was facing. The case was resolved with no felony, no jail, no probation, and only a misdemeanor conviction and some restitution.
