Criminal charges dropped in
grand larceny from employer (Manhattan)
2019
Our client was
arrested for stealing over $2,000 from an employer. Before consulting with us,
our client gave a lengthy
confession to the employer who wrote everything down, had our client sign it, and
then handed it to the NYPD. Our client initially had a different lawyer
but when this lawyer was insisting that our client take a felony conviction, we were
contacted for help. It was slow going in the beginning because the case had already
been negotiated but we were able to present a lot more mitigating information
to show the prosecutor that they didn’t consider everything. We
were able to negotiate a deal where initially our client would plead guilty
to a misdemeanor but after performing some
community service and avoiding arrest, could have this misdemeanor removed and replaced
only with a non-criminal violation. This deal avoided a felony,
jail, probation, and avoided a criminal record.
