Charges dismissed in stolen property from JFK airport case (Queens)
2012
Lance’s client, a passenger traveling through JFK, was
arrested for taking another person’s jacket. Notwithstanding it being our
client’s first arrest, our client still faced criminal charges and
up to a year in
jail if convicted. Our client
contacted us for help. The prosecutor felt confident because our client was observed sitting
while holding the alleged stolen jacket. Lance was able to negotiate with
the prosecutor because of some strong mitigating information – information
that helped to explain that there was more to the overall story than just
what the NYPD told the prosecutor. We reached an agreement that the case
would be completely dismissed as long as our client attended some counseling
and agreed to not be
arrested for 6 months. No
jail, no probation, no criminal record.
